The German American Conference has the unique opportunity to join a panel with the Federal President of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, on the Ethics of the Digital Transformation. The panel, hosted by the Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University, will feature experts from Germany and the US, and explore the implications of Artificial Intelligence and Industry 4.0 on society. Conference participants are invited to attend the panel discussion, and a conference ticket is required for admission.

The discussion is moderated by Urs Gasser, Executive Director of the Berkman Klein Center and Professor of Practice at Harvard Law School. In addition to the German President, the following experts will join the open dialogue:
  • Jeanette Hofmann, Director of the Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society, Professor of Internet Politics, Free University of Berlin
  • Matthew Liao, Director of the Center for Bioethics, Arthur Zitrin Professor of Bioethics, New York University
  • Melissa Nobles, Kenan Sahin Dean of the School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences, Professor of Political Science, MIT
  • Wolfgang Schulz, Director of the Leibniz Institute for Media Research | Hans-Bredow-Institute, Professor for Media Law and Public Law, University of Hamburg
  • Eva Weber-Guskar, Guest Professor for Philosophy, Humboldt University of Berlin
  • Crystal S. Yang, Professor of Law, Harvard Law School

Please note that there will be security checks before the event and that space in the main auditorium is limited, so plan to arrive early.

You cannot bring any bags or backpacks into the room with you. You will be asked to present a form of government ID to be admitted to the panel discussion. There will be absolutely no admission without a conference ticket and a valid form of ID.

Seats in the auditorium will be given out on a first-come, first-serve basis. If the venue capacity is reached, the panel discussion will be live-streamed to a nearby auditorium to allow every conference participant to experience this unique panel.
